from Articulating Design Decisions

1. Great Designers are Great Communicators

Great Designs are;

  • Solves problem
  • Easy for users
  • Supported by everyone(both Stakholders and Users)

Know the difference between approvals and supports.

Lay out the potential solutions, think why and how

2. Stakeholders are people

Not only emphasizing with users but with stakeholders.

  • Stakeholders are full of domain knowledge, business expertise, and product vision (everyone is designer!)
  • View them through positivity and listen to them
  • Understand each stakeholders' perspective and try to see the projects through it
  • Stakeholders' personal goal of the project often different than the project's goal.
    (PM's budget on two different projects)

Understand Influencers of the projects.

  • Inside of your team: Make them as your allies, Get immediate supports.
  • Executives, who oversee the projects: You need support from them.
  • External, anyone affect the projects, team members' family, executives' client..
