Stationary items in muted colors presented in the peripheral vision will not be noticed well.
Motion in the periphery is usually noticed.
In a low-light environment, even though you noticed something with your peripheral vision, you will hardly focus on it.
Humans won't have tunnel vision and obvious blind spots as eyes move frequently and rapidly, with brain's effort to correct it.
